SHEFFIELD — Mister Ussery's 48-yard interception return with 6:50 left in the fourth quarter was the difference in Sheffield's 13-12 win over visiting Cameron County Saturday afternoon.
Cameron County (0-4) had taken a 12-7 lead just before halftime when Tucker Britton threw a 13-yard pass to Dylan Armstrong with 22 seconds left in the second quarter.
Ussery then gave the Wolverines (1-3) for good with his big return.
Sheffield outgained Cameron County, 284-166, and won despite losing the turnover battle, 5-1. Quarterback Shequan Wright gained 78 yards on 19 carries and passed for 76 yards. Daiquan Brown scored Sheffield's first touchdown in the first quarter on a 1-yard run.
Cameron County intercepted Wright twice and the first one was turned into a 101-yard return for a touchdown by Eric Spehalski for the game's first points with 6:54 left in the first quarter. Antonio Johnson led the Red Raiders with 65 yards on 23 carries.
